Freedom—December 21, 2016—Hollywood screenwriter Justin Marks will be speaking at the Freedom Public Library on Wednesday, December 28, at 1:00 p.m.
Marks wrote the screenplay for this year’s Walt Disney feature film “The Jungle Book,” directed by John Favreau. The hit movie starred Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, Ben Kingsley, Christopher Walken, Lupita Nyong’o, and Idris Elba. Marks is also writing a sequel for Disney, with Favreau returning as director.
Two other Marks-penned films are upcoming, including Paramount’s “Top Gun 2,” in which Tom Cruise will reprise his iconic role, and “Dogs of War,” a drama written for producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
In addition to his work in feature films, Marks is the creator and co-showrunner for “Counterpart,” an upcoming Starz TV series starring Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons.
Throughout his youth, Marks spent summers on Berry Bay, and also attended Camp Tohkomeupog in East Madison. His parents, Susan and Ramon Marks, are retired residents of Freedom, where Susan serves as Co-Director of Ossipee Lake Alliance.
