Freedom—November 24, 2019—Ossipee Lake Alliance has announced that environmentalist Corey Lane has joined its Board of Directors, effective immediately.
Lane’s experience encompasses years of volunteer and staff work advocating for water quality and natural resource protection as they pertain to land use practices.
She has worked as Water Quality Coordinator for Green Mountain Conservation Group, with responsibilities encompassing community outreach and education, as well as advocacy on a variety of local and regional land use issues. Prior to that, she worked for the Saco River Corridor Commission in a similar capacity.
Lane is an elected official on the planning board in Porter, Maine, where she lives and manages a home-based business creating custom-designed picture frames from local and reclaimed wood.
“We are delighted that Corey has agreed to join us,” said David Smith, co-executive director of the Alliance.
“Her expertise in water quality issues, and her ability to connect with individuals and communities in informative and collaborative ways will bring depth to our board and strengthen our initiatives going forward.”
“As a resident of Porter, she also has an understanding of how Ossipee Lake issues like milfoil affect the downriver environment,” Smith said.
Ossipee Lake Alliance is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit corporation formed in 2003 to preserve and protect the lake and surrounding environment. It is based in Freedom and maintains a website at www.ossipeelake.org.
