Freedom—July 25, 2017—Local environmental organization Green Mountain Conservation Group will host a presentation on August 1 titled “What exactly is an aquifer, and how do we protect it?”
The aquifer in question is the Ossipee Aquifer, the state’s largest of its type, and the main source of drinking water for Ossipee Lake residents and surrounding communities.
Dr. Robert Newton will be the speaker at the event. He’s the Director of the Smith College Center for the Environment, Ecological Designing, and Sustainability, and has studied our area extensively.
The August 1 presentation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. at Runnells Hall, 25 Deer Hill Road, in Chocorua and will be followed by a discussion and brief meeting of GMCG’s Aquifer Steering Committee.
