Freedom–August 18, 2013–The Nature Conservancy will be conducting a controlled burn on the Ossipee Pine Barrens Preserve tomorrow, August 19th. They will be burning 23 acres in the Town of Freedom to the north of Ossipee Lake Road. The burn area is just to the northwest of the Freedom Wood Yard and referred to as the “Thicket 8” burn unit. Depending upon weather conditions and other factors, the Conservancy may also burn the “Windsock Village 2” unit at some point this week. An announcement will be made at that time.
