Ossipee – November 6, 2008 – Voters on Tuesday rearranged the local political landscape by electing three new state representatives.
Voted-in were Tamworth selectman John Roberts, who is a Republican, and Democrat newcomer Susan Wiley. Also in the win column was Republican Mark McConkey, who has served previously as a State Representative.
Incumbents Virginia Heard and Howard Cunningham, both of Sandwich, were ousted after one term, and the third seat is being vacated by outgoing Republican State Representative Harry Merrow.
On the Carroll County Commission, meanwhile, incumbent Peter Olkkola was beaten by Albany Democrat Dorothy Solomon. Another Democrat, Chip Albee of Tuftonboro, also won a seat on the traditionally Republican Commission.
Great to have Mark back.
